Originally known as “Trent,” Frisco was once home to the majority of Hatteras Island’s Native American population, and is the modern day home of the Frisco Native American museum which offers thousands of exhibits on both the local tribes and Native Americans throughout North Carolina, as well as a walking trail that winds through Frisco’s maritime forest.

Hugging the soundfront, small communities and marinas, like the Scotch Bonnet marina, offer exceptional sound access for small boats and fishermen. Kiteboarders and windsurfers also love the area for its miles of Pamlico Sound playground, and minimal crowds.

On the ocean side, Frisco’s beaches are ideal for young ones. With a long sandbar and typically gentler waves, the beaches are perfect for both children and surf fishermen. The Cape Hatteras Fishing Pier welcomes anglers with a bright yellow pier house and on-premise tackle store for drinks and refreshments.

For a unique take on an Outer Banks vacation, Frisco also offers a selection of fun activities. Equine Adventures offers seasonal guided tours by horseback through the woods and along Frisco’s wide beaches. Burrus Flightseeing Torus gives visitors a chance to take to the skies and explore the Outer Banks from the air, taking off from Frisco Airport, the Hatteras Island’s only airstrip.
