Cape Hatteras Weather
There is a saying on the Outer Banks, "If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes". That's how quickly the weather changes on these barrier islands. The waters are warmer on Hatteras Island due to our proximity to the Gulf Stream waters. And the winds on Hatteras Island are a little stronger since it sits as much as 40 miles off the mainland coast. That is why Hatteras is a mecca for windsurfers and kiteboarders as well as fishermen.
We have a weather window on our home page which offers the current weather information 24-7. But if you are looking for a forecast, you can try the below links.
