Spring Holidays

St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated with a parade in Nags Head, known as the largest St. Patrick’s Day parade in North Carolina.

Enjoy your Easter and Passover breaks at the beach with family. The local churches welcome visitors and some even offer sunrise services on the beach. The Easter Bunny has found that sand is great for hiding eggs. There are local Easter Egg hunts and special Easter brunch and dinners at the restaurants

Summer Holidays

Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends are easily extended to become a full week at the beach. Where better to bar-b-que with the family than at a beach house by the swimming pool?

Independence Day is celebrated on Hatteras Island with a bang! Avon hosts Fourth of July Fireworks each year at the Avon Fishing Pier. This family-friendly event also offers food, games and fun for most of the day.

Fall Holidays

Columbus Day is another three day weekend that many extend to a full week. October is arguably the best month of the year on Hatteras Island since the weather and water are still warm, the fish are biting, the rates are lower and the beaches are uncrowded.

Winter Holidays

Revel in the festivities at the beach this Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year. The Outer Banks community has created a menu of events to enjoy this holiday season, including tree lightings, visits from Santa, a special lighthouse climb, parades, special restaurant menus and more. The businesses all decorate for the holidays and the shops offer great discounts for purchasing the perfect holiday gift.
