As the Leaseholder, please inform your entire party that they may not go to the home prior to check-in. Any guest arriving at the home prior to check-in may further delay your check-in time.

The Leaseholder must be the person checking in at our office. We will verify identification (valid driver’s license), your status as a family group, and that you meet the specified age requirements. You may call ahead to permit another member of the party to initially Check-in and accept responsibility for the lease, but since you are the Leaseholder, you will need to complete the check-in process by coming into the office upon arrival and showing identification.

Please do not purchase perishable groceries prior to check-in. We do not have refrigeration facilities at our office.

Electronic Keyless Entry

If the vacation home you have rented offers Electronic Keyless Door Locks, then no keys will be necessary for you to enter the home and you can by-pass the office Check-in and Check-out altogether.

Once your home is ready for check-in, you can go directly to the home and use the unique entry code we provide to you for entry. Simply enter the code (including all characters and numbers) into the combination lock on the main entry door, turn the deadbolt, then the doorknob and you're in! Your packet of check-in information will be waiting for you inside the home.

Keyless Entry also enables your entire group to share the memorable code for entry to the house throughout your stay. There is no need to keep track of keys at the beach or juggle the keys between party members.

Upon your check-out we ask that you please call the office to let us know that you have vacated the property. Check-out is by 10:00am. (please be sure to turn the deadbolt when leaving the home to lock the door)

Watch a quick video about how our Keyless Entry works.

(You can identify if your rental home offers Keyless Entry by looking at your home's advertised amenities on our website for the "Electronic keyless door lock" bullet.)

Check-in time is based on the readiness of the house. Please understand you may not be able to check-in until after 6:00 pm on Saturdays between May 25th - September 21st (5:30 pm for all other arrivals).

You will receive your door code from us via a text and/or email on the day of your arrival once your home has been fully prepared for your stay.

- When you log into your guest portal, be sure to invite your other party members to the portal so they can see the door code and other information about Hatteras Island and your vacation home.

Once your home is ready you may go directly to the home using the access code and begin your vacation!

Early Check-In

Early check-in guarantees access to your home by 1:00 pm on your check-in day. Most of our homes participate in Early Check-In. Purchasing this option will gain you access to a minimum of the lowest living area level of the home and pool area (if applicable) by 1:00 pm on check-in day.

This early check-in option allows you to unpack your car, use the bathroom, put food in the refrigerator, change into your swim suits and enjoy the beach. The non-refundable early check-in fee is $200 to $600 plus tax, depending on the size of the rental home and the time of year.

Call or chat with us online to request an Early Check-In and we will let you know if it is available for your reservation. Remember to reserve early as there are only a limited number available each week.

If you have purchased an Early Check-In and your home offers Keyless Entry, you may go directly to the home at 1:00 to gain access. If your home does not offer Keyless Entry, you will need to come to your check-in office at 1:00 to pick up the keys.

Watch a quick video about Early Check-In.

Additional Details: In many cases, the cleaning of the entire home will be complete before you arrive. If so, a door tag on the entry door will indicate that the cleaning has been completed and that you have access to the entire home.

If the cleaning of the remainder of the home has not been completed by your arrival, please do not go into any areas in the home until cleaning has been completed and you have been invited to do so. Housekeepers and Linen Providers (if your home provides linens) will need access to the home to complete preparation for your stay.

Linens will be delivered by 5:30. If belongings are left on beds that are to be made, the linens will be delivered but those beds will not be made.

Please be aware that cleaning and/or service to the pool and hot tub might not have been complete prior to 1:00 and our service providers will need access to the area to complete the preparation procedures.

We thank you in advance for allowing the Housekeepers, Linen Providers and Pool and Spa vendors to complete their work without interruption.

If you rented a home with a physical key, you can pick up the keys and directions to your home in a key drop box next to the front door of our offices.

Things to Do if you Arrive Before Your House is Ready

Enjoy the beach, or one of our local restaurants or watering holes. We strive to have most guests in their home by 6:00 pm.

A good place to spend the day at the beach prior to check-in is at the Coquina Beach access. The entrance is located on the oceanside of NC-12, approximately 5 minutes after you enter the National Seashore, directly across from the entrance to the Bodie Island Lighthouse. The Coquina Beach access has bathroom/shower facilities, a covered picnic area, a lifeguarded beach and plenty of parking.

Some ideas of local attractions to visit: Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Chicamacomico Life Saving Station, Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum, Avon or Rodanthe Fishing Piers or local art galleries. Many of our local restaurants offer great lunch specials, like peel ‘n eat shrimp and drink specials during the afternoon hours. Once you’re on Hatteras Island, begin enjoying your vacation and leave the stress of preparing your home to us.

Please note: As of February 15, 2012, if you want to drive your vehicle on the beaches of Cape Hatteras National Seashore you will be required to purchase a beach driving permit. Permits can be obtained at any of three National Park Service ORV permit offices located at Coquina Beach, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Visitor Center in Buxton and the Ocracoke Visitor Center. The cost of an annual permit (valid for the calendar year) is $120. A 7-day ORV permit (valid from the date issued) costs $50. Click this link for information about how to obtain beach driving permits in the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

Also of note, any person 16 and older who wants to fish recreationally in any water designated as coastal and joint waters of North Carolina must purchase a Coastal Recreational Fishing License (CRFL). This license can be purchased on a 10-day, annual or lifetime basis, or combined with a variety of licenses issued by the NC Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF). Info is available on the Division of Marine Fisheries' website or at many of our local fishing and bait shops when you arrive on Hatteras Island.
